View all search resultscouple and their daughter have been found dead after a fire gutted their house in Pematang Siantar, North Sumatra, at dawn on Tuesday.
Togu P. Marpaung, 60, his wife Fryda Butarbutar, 58, and their daughter Ceba Asima Rohana Marpaung, 30, were sleeping when the fire started at about 3 a.m., Pematang Siantar Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) head Daniel Siregar said.
The Pematang Siantar Police were still investigating the cause of the blaze, which was extinguished within an hour. “But the victims could not be saved; they were found dead in the house,” Daniel told The Jakarta Post, adding that five fire trucks were deployed to the scene.
Pematang Siantar Deputy Mayor Hefriansyah said the city would help the victims’ family members in facing the tragedy. “I have instructed related institutions to take necessary steps to help ease the burden on the victims’ family,” he said.
The bodies of the three victims were taken to the Djasamen Saragih hospital for post mortem examinations.
