New Zealand tourist missing since Monday was found dead in Nusa Penida waters on Friday after he was swept away by high waves while attempting to rescue a friend in the famous Angel’s Billabong in Nusa Penida.
Two local fisherman from Lembongan village named I Wayang Supiri and I Gede Sujana found the body of Temson Mannie Junior Simeki, 23, on Friday morning, Bali Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Hengky Widjaja said.
“The two fisherman on their traditional boat were going home after fishing. They saw something floating in the waters off Crystal Bay. As they tried to get closer, they realized that it was a human body,” Hengky explained.
The fisherman decided to take the body to the nearest floating jetty and report the development to the police. A team from the Bali chapter of the National Search and Rescue (Basarnas) removed the body to Sanglah Hospital.
An external examination conducted by the Sanglah Hospital forensics team confirmed the identity of the body. The victim’s family also confirmed the identity of the body.
