he Bogor General Elections Commission (KPU Bogor) will inaugurate a learning house in April dedicated to educating school students about elections.
The development of the house, located at the KPU Bogor office, is part of the commission’s efforts to educate citizens about their duties as voters, said KPU Bogor commissioner Bambang Wahyu.
“The learning house will facilitate students to learn about the history of general elections in Bogor, the role of KPU, and their own role as voters,” Bambang said as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday.
The creation of election learning houses is an obligatory nationwide program launched by the KPU.
The house’s main target is high school students as first-time voters and elementary and junior high school students as soon-to-be voters.
“Through this learning house, we also expect students to better understand the management of an election,” said Bambang.
Upon completion, the house, which took about a month to build, will consist of several rooms such as an election simulation room, a display room that will present overall statistics from all elections in Bogor since 2004, and a mini studio playing election-related clips and showcasing a miniature of a polling station.
The house will also be open to the general public and free of charge. To visit the house, one only has to register via the KPU Bogor website http://www.kpud-bogorkab.go.id/. (dea)
