he Bogor General Elections Commission (KPU) has started to distribute election material, including ballot papers, that will be used in the Bogor regental election and West Java provincial election scheduled to be held simultaneously on June 27.

Bogor Regent Nurhayanti said in the first stage, the KPU Bogor had distributed ballot papers to 27 out of 40 districts in the regency.

“I just dispatched teams that will distribute ballot papers for the Bogor regental election in the Pamijahan and Nanggung districts. Meanwhile, material for the West Java provincial election in the two districts are still being delivered [by the West Java KPU],” said Nurhayanti on Friday.

Nurhayanti expressed hope that the distribution of regional election material to polling stations, conducted under a tight guard of police personnel, would run safely and smoothly. The regent called on all Bogor residents to use their voting rights in the upcoming elections.

According to the KPU Bogor, 3.2 million people have been registered on its final voter list. They are considered eligible to cast a vote in both the regental and provincial elections because they have either the necessary identification or suket (letter of recommendation).

Bogor Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi Moch Dicky said the police, together with Indonesian Military and Public Order Agency personnel, would support the KPU to ensure smooth and successful regional elections.

He said the police were watching over the distribution of election materials to polling stations in areas across Bogor. (ebf)
