ix firms have signed an agreement with state-owned electricity company PLN to develop electricity plants using solar energy with total capacity of 45 megawatt (MW).
The six companies are Delapan Menit Energi, Infrastruktur Terbarukan Adhiguna, Infrastruktur Terbarukan Buana, Infrastruktur Terbarukan Cemerlang, Infrastruktur Terbarukan Lestari and PT Quantum Energy.
The government is revising electricity procurement business plan (RUPTL) 2017 to 2025 as part of an effort to boost renewable energy usage, said Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan, adding that the target was 23 percent renewable energy contribution to the country’s electricity demand by 2015.

“It is in line with the target of the General Planning for National Energy [RUEN], which sets a similar target,” Jonan said during a seminar in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Renewable energy currently contributes 12.5 percent to the country’s electricity.
Delapan Menit Energi will construct solar energy power plant (SEPP) with a capacity of 5-MW in Kuta, Bali; Infrastruktur Terbarukan Adhiguna will construct a 5-MW plant in Pringgabaya, West Nusa Tenggara; Infrastruktur Terbarukan Buana will construct a 5-MW plant in Selong, West Nusa Tenggara; Infrastruktur Terbarukan Cemerlang will construct a 5-MW plant in Sengkol, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Infrastruktur Terbarukan Lestari will construct a 15-MW power plant in Likupang in Minahasa, South Sulawesi and PT Quantum Energy will construct a 10-MW power plant in Gorontalo.
