akarta residents who suffer material losses from trees that fall on and damage their houses, vehicles and other valuables can now claim compensation from the city administration.
"Should any resident suffer from material losses caused by falling trees, they are welcome to file for compensation from the agency," said the Jakarta Forestry Agency head Romi Sidharta.
Romi said that in order to file claims, residents must provide several items, such as pictures to prove the damage, a statement letter from a police office and copies of citizen identity cards and vehicle registration letters.
All of the requirements, along with a letter to request compensation, are to be addressed to the agency's office on Jl. KS Tubun in Petamburan, Central Jakarta.
Reimbursement for each resident will vary. A special team with the agency will assess the damage to determine how much money should be paid, Romi said as quoted by beritajakarta.com on Monday. (dea)
