The suspect, Suh alias We, 46, was arrested this time.
“The suspect’s wife said he had undergone treatment at the mental hospital in Pekanbaru,” Indragiri Hilir Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Dolifar Manurung said on Wednesday. “But we will examine his condition at a psychiatrist's office in Pekanbaru.”
Dolifar said the suspect had reportedly been riding a motorbike alone before throwing a Molotov cocktail that had exploded in the parking lot of the banks. No fatalities were reported in the incident.
“The situation turned chaotic but the suspect allegedly went closer to Bank BNI, which is next to the Bank Riau-Kepri, carrying another Molotov cocktail,” he said.
“Three cops who were on duty at the nearby police post immediately came to the location after hearing screaming,” Dolifar added.
“The suspect was immediately nabbed. He refused the arrest but the police officers handled the situation,” he said, adding that the police had also seized Molotov cocktails kept inside an instant noodle box on the back of his motorbike. (bbs)
