orld number nine Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto are on the right track for their title campaign as they have secured a quarterfinal spot in the 2017 Badminton Asia Champioonships in Wuhan, China.
In the Thursday’s round, Praveen and Debby sent home Choi Solgyu and Chae Yoo Jung of South Korea in a straight match of 21-12, 21-13 within 30 minutes.
“Kill or be killed,” seemed to be the Indonesian mixed doubles pair stance to avoid loss against the South Koreans. With the latest result, Praveen and Debby have pocketed 3-2 record against Choi and Chae.
“It was not a complicated match at all. We pushed [the South Koreans] down since the beginning of the game — it clearly stopped Choi from developing his game. [The Thursday’s match] was easier as compared to our previous meet,” said Praveen, the champion of 2016 All England.
In the Friday’s quarterfinals, Praveen and Debby will face either Chinese pair Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping or Taiwanese Lin Chia Yu and Wu Ti Jung.
Praveen and Debby dominated the Taiwanese pair in previous matches, but have not met the Chinese duo yet.
“We’re ready to face either pairs. But we have to prepare better to anticipate the Chinese pair’s style,” said Praveen.
