ndonesian courier service and logistics company PT Citra Van Titipan Kilat (TIKI) will deploy more personnel and vehicles in anticipation of a surge of more than 50 percent in deliveries during the fasting month of Ramadhan.
“We usually handle about 1.2 million deliveries during regular months and we expect a surge to about 2 million during Ramadhan,” TIKI traffic and network director Ahmad Ferwito told reporters recently.
He further said that in Jakarta, for example, the company would deploy an additional 30 percent in vehicles and employ an additional 15 percent in couriers, adding to its existing 115 vehicles and 600 couriers.
Most of the items to be delivered during Ramadhan will be cookies and e-commerce products, he added.
Meanwhile, TIKI sales manager Ferry W. said that his company was one of the biggest courier and logistics firms.
“We delivered about 25 million packages in 2016, a 25 percent increase from 2015. We expect to grow by 30 percent this year,” Ferry said in Jakarta, adding that in the first quarter of this year, the company handled more than 9 million deliveries.
TIKI plans to open around 100 more representative offices this year to add to the 500 existing offices across the country. (dra/bbn)
