It’s the biggest annual festivity in the country.

The Idul Fitri holiday is the country’s most awaited time of year and the occasion of an epic annual exodus. An estimated 29 million people will visit their loved ones in their hometowns this year, temporarily deserting the big cities where they have been sweating blood to earn a living.

From traveling by motorcycle and ship to booking trains and planes in advance, these homebound revelers are giving their all to secure the precious moments when they can ask for forgiveness from their parents and extended family.

This year’s exodus is rather special with the presence of beautiful green scenery along the Bawen-Salatiga toll road in Central Java. The misery of being trapped in terrible congestion on the roads will be paid off once the holidaymakers make it to their hometowns safe and sound. Their wellbeing is what matters most.

Happy Idul Fitri.
