A Transjakarta bus was stolen and found in Pekalongan, Central Jakarta, an official has said.

City-owned bus operator PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) spokesperson Wibowo said the stolen bus belonged to Mayasari Bakti, one of the operators of Transjakarta buses.

“The bus was stolen by a former employee of Mayasari Bakti,” Wibowo said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com, adding that the former employee once worked as driver.

On Wednesday night, Pekalongan Police secured a rapid transit bus and took into custody the driver, identified only as SS.

Pekalongan Police traffic unit head Adj. Comr. Alan Haikel said the blue bus had been stolen in East Jakarta.

“We secured the bus and the driver on Pantura highway [in Pekalongan district],” Alan said Wednesday. (wnd)
