he Jakarta Governance Bureau said the Bekasi administration will receive Rp 318 billion (US$6.1 million) in financial aid to develop the Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Treatment Area (TPST).
“The money will be disbursed soon. Bekasi will get it on Thursday at the latest […] Meanwhile, compensation in the form of money amounted to Rp 70 billion. We will disburse Rp 318 billion,” said bureau head Premi Lasari at City Hall on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.
The 70 billion in compensation is for residents affected by the activities of the TPST. Located in Bekasi, the TPST is the waste treatment site for solid waste from Jakarta.
The remaining Rp 318 billion will be used for programs in Bekasi related to Jakarta interests, such as the purchasing of heavy machinery and the development or expansion of roads used by Jakarta garbage trucks traveling to and from Bekasi.
