resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is scheduled to visit residents in the vicinity of Mount Agung who fled their homes fearing the imminent eruption of the volcano.
Jokowi is expected to visit a number of camps set up for evacuees in Karang Asem, Bali, on Tuesday, spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said on Monday.
"There's a schedule for President Jokowi to visit Bali and he will visit some of spots where evacuees take shelter," Sutopo said.
Sutopo said that currently at least 48.540 evacuees has taken refuge in 301 shelters set up by local governments.
The BNPB said that the number of evacuees was expected to rise because more than 60,000 people lived in the danger zone.
Officials announced the highest possible alert level on Friday following the increasing volcanic activity, and told people to stay at least nine kilometres away from the crater.
