lexis Hotel has called on the Jakarta administration to provide a solution following the latter’s decision to close down the entertainment complex.

The Alexis Hotel has not violated any regulations and contributed to tax revenues, said its legal representative Lina Novita in a statement obtained by The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, she added, Alexis currently has many employees who are the breadwinners in their families, thus they would lose their source of income if the hotel is shut down.

"We ask the city administration to provide the best solution and guidance, so that the business can stay afloat,” said Lina. “We are ready to implement changes our management practices in accordance with the administration’s instructions.”

Nonetheless, she added, Alexis Hotel had committed to comply with the recent decision made by the city administration.

The administration recently refused to extend the hotel's operation permit following media stories regarding banned activities at the hotel, such as the hotel offering massage services.

The hotel itself is widely rumored to have hosted high-class prostitution services. However, Lina said, the administration had yet to conduct an investigation at the hotel.

Closing Alexis was one of newly-elected Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan’s campaign promises during the gubernatorial election earlier this year.
