A

fire broke out at a factory in which paint thinner manufacturer PT Mustika Carana Laksana operates in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit. No injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Tangerang Police chief Sr. Comr. Harry Kurniawan said a number of police officers, firefighters and five fire trucks had been deployed to the site to rescue roughly 100 workers, as the factory was located in a densely populated area.

Harry said it was rather difficult to extinguish the fire that started around 1:30 p.m. as the paint thinner was flammable.

“We have yet to calculate the losses from the fire,” Harry added as quoted by kompas.com. (vny)
