our houses on Jl. Bantar Jati in Cipayung, East Jakarta, were damaged after a base transceiver station (BTS) tower fell upon them in heavy winds on Sunday, injuring several residents.
Substantial damage was caused to the roofs, walls and interiors of the houses.
Cipayung district head Iin Mutmainah said the affected residents were staying at a hotel following the incident.
“We moved them to a hotel temporarily,” she said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com, adding that the residents would also receive counselling.
Iin said Cipayung district officials would review the tower’s permits, as well as adding requirements on maintenance to prevent such incidents recurring in the future. (ecn)
