undreds of app-based ride-hailing ojek (motorcycle taxi) drivers paid their respects to fellow ojek driver FX Febrianto, 49, who died in a chain collision in Velbak, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, on Friday.
The ojek drivers visited Febrianto’s house in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Banten, on Saturday morning. The deceased was then taken to Tanah Kusir Cemetery in South Jakarta, as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.
Febrianto died after a Metro Mini bus crashed into his motorbike at around 9 a.m. on Friday.
According to eyewitnesses, two Metro Mini drivers had been racing each other at high speed. One of the drivers lost control and crashed into a car, dragging it as it crashed into two motorbike drivers, one of whom was Febrianto, who died instantly.
Another motorbike driver identified as Nana Rusdiana also died after undergoing treatment at the nearby Muhammadiyah hospital..
Police have arrested the Metro Mini’s driver, identified as AS, 73. “We will hold the vehicles as evidence,” police chief Comr. Mardiaz Kusin Dwihananto said, referring to the two motorcycles, car and Metro Mini. (vny)
