27-year-old female user of an app-based ride-hailing service was reportedly sexually assaulted and then abandoned by her driver near Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Monday.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said the alleged incident occurred after the victim had ordered a ride on her smartphone at around 4 a.m.
“The victim was picked up in a white [Nissan] Grand Livina. The driver did not take her to the destination but to a quiet, dark place,” Argo said on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
The driver also reportedly stole the victim’s phone. Argo said police were still investigating the case.
