he government has recorded a 14 percent year-on-year (yoy) growth in tax revenue as of February, according the Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
“If we exclude revenue from the tax amnesty, the growth is 15 percent, even higher than the growth two years ago,” Sri Mulyani told reporters at the State Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday as reported by kontan.co.id.
As of February, tax revenue had reached Rp 153.5 trillion (US$11.14 billion), compared to Rp 134.6 trillion in the same period last year.
“From the growth in tax revenue, we can see that there have been many [business] activities. We can also control the inflation rate,” Sri Mulyani, adding that the current-account deficit was at 1.7 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), compared to 4 percent in 2013.
The minister revealed in January that the government had collected Rp 78. 95 trillion in tax revenue, or a 11.17 percent yoy growth. (bbn)
