raffic on the Jagorawi toll road, especially along the Cibubur 2 gate, is now under control thanks to a new odd-even policy and a special lane for public transportation, according to state-owned toll operator PT Jasa Marga.
Jasa Marga spokesperson Dwimawan Heru said the first week of the policy’s implementation, from April 16 to 20, saw an increase in the speeds at which vehicles traveled.
“From [an average of] 49.22 kilometers per hour to 67 km per hour,” he said as quoted by kompas.com on Saturday.
The figures show a 36 percent increase in speed during rush hour, at 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The odd-even policy, which allows vehicles with odd numbered license plate to pass the toll road only on odd days and vice-versa, has not significantly impacted the company’s revenue, Heru said.
“Many toll-road users rerouted to other gates or rescheduled their trips to accommodate the policy,” Heru said, adding that many motorists who were unable to enter the toll road chose instead to use the Cimanggis toll gate.
In the first week of the policy’s implementation, the Cimanggis toll gate saw a 4.43 percent increase in vehicles. (gis/evi)
