emocratic Party leader Susilo “SBY” Bambang Yudhoyono has instructed his deputy, Roy Suryo, not to appear in television talk shows or other kind of media coverage.

A short message allegedly sent by SBY to Roy containing that instruction was leaked and has been circulated in social media since Saturday.

In the message, Roy was said to often publish statements that were not in line with the party’s positions and decisions, which led to “party members’ confusion”.

The message to Roy said SBY often received notes from regional members related to Roy’s media statements.

SBY, according to the message, asked Roy to focus on his tasks at the House of Representatives as well as the party’s mission to do well in upcoming elections.

Roy confirmed the instruction.

“I received the instruction well, and I am complying, as ordered by the leader,” he said, as quoted by kompas.com on Sunday.

Roy went on to say that the instruction was evidence of SBY’s nurturing quality. He also said he wanted to take a break from any media appearance, also because he would go abroad on a duty from the House of Representatives in the coming week.

“I say goodbye for now, dearest media partners, God is not resting,” he said. (gis/evi)
