shoot-out between South Tangerang Police and suspected burglars resulted in the deaths of two of the suspects in front of the Esta Dana Ventura Microfinancing office on Jl. Siliwangi Raya, Pamulang, South Tangerang, Banten.

South Tangerang Police criminal unit director Adj. Comr. Alexander said the suspects had firearms and were resisting arrest when the police tried to ambush them.

“We have detained five suspects. Two them were shot dead because they were resisting arrests and one ran away,” Alex said on Tuesday as reported by wartakota.tribunnews.com.

Alex said police had grown suspicious of the activities of the suspects in the wee hours of Tuesday. Police reportedly saw the suspects attempting to break into a shop-house.

“When one suspect was tried to break in, we tried to ambush them,” Alex said.

The suspect immediately returned to a car and attempted to flee the scene with the others.

“One of our members was hit and we opened fire on them,” Alex said.

The remains of two of the suspected burglars were taken to Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta.

The police have yet to identify the deceased suspects as they were not carrying identification. (ami)
