he Jakarta Police are investigating adultery allegations against police officers.
“One of our officers reported the allegation on Tuesday. The case has been under investigation by the provost [division],” police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono told kompas.com on Wednesday.
The investigating officers, Argo added, would question the officers in question and others over the case before the preliminary trial.
“If an act of adultery is proven to have taken place, the trial will determine the kind of crime and [...] punishment they will receive,” he said.
The case was apparently reported by an officer of the Jakarta Police’s security intelligence unit (Intelkam).
According to the officer, his wife, a police officer with the National Police’s general crimes unit, committed adultery with another officer from the National Police’s special crimes detection unit (Tipiter) at a hotel in North Jakarta.
The officer reporting the case told the police that his wife had admitted to the alleged act.
