conference is to take place in Bangkok on Tuesday and Wednesday to deliberate over technical aid programs for Palestine, an Indonesian official said on Friday.
The third conference on Cooperation among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) will see representatives from Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Malaysia, Egypt, Palestine, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, Jordan and Thailand, as well as from five international non-governmental organizations.
“The programs will be in a form of capacity building. They will be tailored to the needs of Palestinians and the strengths of CEAPAD state members,” the Foreign Ministry’s director for technical cooperation, M. Syarif Alatas, told journalists.
He said Indonesia planned in 2019 to provide training in women’s empowerment, education and government administration to the Palestinians.
He said Indonesia had been actively providing a total of 169 programs involving 1,859 Palestinians in various fields, such as good governance, small and medium enterprises and micro-finance training.
Syarif said Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi is scheduled to attend the event and she would emphasize Indonesia’s support for Palestine’s sustainable development.
“Indonesia would also encourage state partners to further contribute to Palestine’s development,” he added.
