he Jakarta Police have arrested on Monday three alleged administrators of a Facebook page that posted content related to child pornography. The arrest was the result of an investigation into a similar case last year that involved the "Official Loly [sic] Candy" Facebook group.
According to Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono, the three suspects WR, AD and IW were arrested in Jakarta, Tangerang and Palembang, South Sumatra.
"The investigation had been under way since March 2017," Argo said on Monday as quoted by tempo.co. He added that the police had discovered 40 related Facebook groups and channels with around 200 members from 63 countries, according to their phone numbers.
The investigation was a follow-up to the Loly Candy case, in which the police arrested five people in March 2017. The private Facebook group, which was created in 2016 and allegedly exploited children on the internet, had amassed 7,479 members.
The group also produced content related to child pornography, which it would distribute through the WhatsApp and Telegram messaging apps. Argo said. (rfa)
