raffic police officers from East Tanjung Jabung in Jambi received praise on social media after a video of them went viral on Monday. The video showed the officers assisting residents who were transporting the dead body of their relative on a motorcycle.

The officers stopped the residents because they thought they saw three adults riding on a motorcycle, which is a traffic violation. But the police officers were surprised to find that one of the adults was actually dead. The dead body was wearing a helmet.

Instead of ticketing the riders, the police helped them and carried the dead body to their patrol car and took it to a funeral home.

East Tanjung Jabung traffic division head Adj. Comr. Tesmirizal said he was not sure who uploaded the video to the social media but confirmed that the incident had occurred on a road near Pandan Lagan village in Geragai subdistrict of East Tanjung Jabung regency.

“The video shows how our traffic officers immediately reacted and helped the residents take the body to a funeral home, which was 20 kilometers away at Kampung Laut, Kuala Jambi regency,” Tesmirizal said on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.

He said the officers had initially thought that the person was just sick, but when they looked closer, they realized the person was dead. (kmt)
