Anies, Alex Noerdin have heated exchange over Asian Games

ension between the Jakarta and Palembang administrations built up Wednesday when the regions’ governors, Anies Baswedan and Alex Noerdin, featured on a talk show to discuss preparations of the cities to co-host the Asian Games.
Anies talked about the expansion of the odd-even traffic policy, which was fully implemented on Wednesday, to enable athletes to reach Games venues fast.
The Organizing Committee of Asia (OCA) has set athletes travel time between the athletes village in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, and Game venues at a maximum of 34 minutes.
Anies said the challenge to managing traffic lied in the fact that Game venues in Jakarta were located in eight different places. “It is a lot easier in South Sumatra because all the venues are located in one complex,” he said during the talk show, which was moderated by Najwa Shihab.
Asian Games venues in Palembang are all situated inside Jakabaring Sport City Center.
Alex responded: “In Jakabaring, one only needs to walk one to 10 minutes to reach the venues. This is because of good planning.”

Anies then said conditions in Jakarta and Palembang were very different because most of the venues in Jakarta were older while Jakabaring was new.
Meanwhile, Alex offered to help the Jakarta administration clean the smelly Kali Item (black river), which is located across from the athletes village.
He said the Palembang administration was used to cleaning rivers, citing the Musi River, which people used as a recreation site.
Anies turned down the offer, saying rivers in Jakarta were different from those in Palembang.
