A

number of high-ranking officials who were dismissed by Governor Anies Baswedan from their posts within the Jakarta administration will be assigned to work as commissioners and supervisors of Jakarta-owned companies (BUMDs), city secretary Saefullah has said.

The decision was made following the State Civilian Bureaucracy Commission’s (KASN) recommendation that the officials be reinstated.

“We will appoint those who are communicative [and] physically healthy to BUMDs. We think that our follow-up to KASN’s recommendation is appropriate for echelon II in terms of their salary,” Saefullah said on Friday, kompas.com reported.

He said that not all dismissed officials would return to their original posts because either they were entering their retirement age or their positions had been filled by other officials.

Saefullah refused to reveal which dismissed officials would be appointed as BUMD commissioners or supervisors, saying that the appointment decrees were not yet finalized.

“We will tell [the public] once the gubernatorial decrees have been made. [The dismissed officials] will not be directors but commissioners, and some will be supervisors" he said.

He said there were also two officials that were currently being assessed for reappointment by the administration.

The officials are former social welfare bureau head Adi Ariantara and former South Jakarta mayor Tri Kurniadi. (ahw)
