The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) slipped to 5,893.59 before midday on Monday.
As many as 223 shares dragged down the JCI. The 127 stocks that had strengthened were not able to help the index from declining, while 111 stocks were unchanged, kontan.co.id reported.
A total of 4.79 billion shares were traded during the morning session with total transaction value of Rp 3.23 trillion.
Infrastructure shares fell 1.65 percent, while consumer goods shares fell 1.56 percent.
Foreign investors purchased Rp 166.21 billion worth of local shares, while total net purchases reached Rp 505.74 billion.
The biggest losses in the first trading session were experienced by PT HM Sampoerna (3.85 percent) PT PP (2.85 percent) and PT Indo Tambangraya ( 2.75 percent).
Meanwhile, the biggest gains were seen in Bank Central Asia (1.27 percent), PT Sri Rejeki Isman (1.16 percent) and PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (0.49 percent). (acr/bbn)
