fficers from the Jakarta branch of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) arrested 52 people in a raid on Sunday on the Old City Discotheque in Tambora, West Jakarta, after they tested positive for narcotics.

Of the 52, 33 were men and 19 were women, according to BNN eradication division chief Sr. Adj. Comr. Maria Sorlury.

“They have been brought to the BNN office for further investigation,” Maria said on Sunday as reported by tribunjakarta.com, adding that they had tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.

The agency also found four ecstasy pills in the raid, over which managers of the nightclub were immediately questioned.

“We immediately checked the management on site last night,” Maria said, adding that the agency had yet to confirm whether the management had been involved in distributing the drugs.

Separately, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said he would close down the club if it was proven that its employees had distributed narcotics on site, according to Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 18/2018 on tourism-related businesses.
