he Bogor Police’s narcotics division in West Java have seized hundreds of cannabis and khat plants, a flowering shrub classified as a drug, on land owned by state-owned forestry firm Perhutani in North Tugu village in Cisarua, Bogor regency, West Java
Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Andi Mochamad Dicky said the discovery on Friday followed an operation code named Antik Lodaya carried out since Nov. 23.
“From the operation, we have uncovered 29 cases and arrested 40 suspected drug dealers. We have seized various evidence, ranging from crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy to marijuana. An interesting finding is the farming of cannabis and khat,” Dicky said on Friday.
The farming of the cannabis and seeds was hidden.
From the raid, the police seized 122 plants and arrested two people, identified as 47-year-old RH and 29-year-old AS.
Investigators also found khat in South Tugu village and have named a 85-year-old identified as S the sole suspect. Khat leaves contain cathinone, which is used to make ecstasy. (fac)
