ndonesia, which has secured a quarterfinal spot in the Sudirman Cup mixed team badminton tournament, is expecting a tight battle against Denmark in its last group match at the Guangxi Sports Center in Nanning, China, on Wednesday.
Despite holding the advantage, Indonesia, which will progress even if Denmark wins in the Wednesday showdown, said it would stay focused and not look down on its opponents.
“We have to stay focused because we simply want to play our best,” team Indonesia manager Susy Susanti said in a statement.
Indonesia is in Group B with England and Denmark. Indonesia won 4-1 against England on Sunday, while England won 3-2 against Denmark on Monday.
The final group stage match against Indonesia will be do-or-die for Denmark.
Denmark will reach the quarterfinals if it wins 5-0 or 4-1 against Indonesia. In this scenario, Denmark will become the group leader, while Indonesia will be the runner-up. However, if Denmark wins 3-2, Indonesia will become the group leader, while Denmark will be the runner-up.
However, if Indonesia beats Denmark in the Wednesday decider, Indonesia will become the group leader with England being the runner-up.
