Police said that the boy had drowned when he allegedly fell overboard while rafting with friends on Sunday.
ocal police announced that the body of a 10-year-old boy identified as BG had been recovered on Monday from the Ciliwung River, after he was reported missing and presumed drowned on Sunday.
The body was found near the Puspa Raya housing complex in Bojonggede district in Bogor, West Java.
Bojonggede Police chief Cmr. Agus Koster Sinaga said the fatal drowning occurred while BG was rafting with his friends, when their boat suddenly capsized and BG fell overboard and drowned.
BG's body was discovered at 10:04 a.m. on Monday, lodged between rocks at the bottom of the river, said Agus.
Emergency personnel recovered BG’s body with some difficulty, as it was located 8 meters deep on the riverbed.
“The body was found on the riverbed. The search and rescue team's initial search produced no results. It was found moments later. The team had to dive and raise the body using a rope,” said Bojongggede Police criminal investigation chief First Insp. Jajang Rahmat.
Jajang said BG's body had been returned to his family to be buried. (tru)
