To support SMEs wanting to export their products, BRI will provide guidance on how to obtain export permits and offered export financing
tate-owned lender Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), the largest public company in the country, is seeking to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) penetrate overseas markets by holding a three-day event last week for them to meet potential buyers from 16 countries.
BRI deputy director Catur Budi Harto said that 155 SMEs producing food, fashion, home decoration and other products were participating in the on-going meeting with 74 potential buyers from countries in Asia, Europe and America.
The meeting, called BRILianpreneur UMKM Export, includes a seminar, a product gallery, bazaar and barista competition.
"We hope the event will give our SMEs the opportunity to tap overseas markets,” he said in Jakarta on Dec. 18. “This is in line with the President's policy [to support SME exports]."
Catur noted that BRI also held training courses for SMEs on capacity building for their human resources.
To support SMEs wanting to export their products, BRI would provide guidance on how to obtain export permits and offered export financing, he added.
Enterprises fall into the SME category if their total assets value between Rp 50 million (US$3,572) and Rp 10 billion.
