resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo officially appointed Yudian Wahyudi, the rector of Sunan Kalijaga Islamic State University (UIN Sunan Kalijaga), as the newest chairman of the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP) on Wednesday.

Yudian replaces Yudi Latif, who stepped down from the position in early June 2018. BPIP vice chairman Hariyono had held the position as acting chairman for the past 18 months.

By appointing Yudian, Jokowi said he hoped that the organization would be able to introduce the important values of the nation’s ideology, Pancasila, to the younger generation as soon as possible.

“We are aiming to introduce the importance of Pancasila to 129 million youths under the age of 39,” Jokowi said on Wednesday “I hope [Yudian] can start introducing the implementation of Pancasila values to the public, especially to the youth since the preparation has been completed."

Yudian’s inauguration ceremony was also attended by Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and members of the Cabinet, such as Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Mahfud MD, Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna H. Laoly and Home Minister Tito Karnavian. (dpk)
