Joseph Lasiri open to Prajanchai rematch, eyes ONE kickboxing belt Joseph Lasiri lifts the ONE strawweight Muay Thai world championship belt after defeating then champion Prajanchai PK.Saenchai in the co-main event of ONE 157 on May 20.

F

resh from dethroning Prajanchai PK.Saenchai at ONE 157 last Friday, Joseph Lasiri is aware of the next challenge he will have to deal with inside ONE Championship’s Circle.

“The Hurricane” concedes that to continue his reign in the division, he needs to get past the divisional contenders, which could be equally challenging. And that includes a rematch with Prajanchai.

The Italian-Moroccan champion is willing to run it back with the former champion to leave no doubt, while also welcoming the opportunity to face any challenger ONE presents.

“I don’t care about my opponent. I told you when I’m training, when I’m fighting, I’m too focused on myself. So, if you give me a rematch against Prajanchai or if you give me someone else, okay,” he told the media after the event.

“My teammates will be working on the game plan, but I will do the same thing. In training camp, we will start the suffering, and I will pass that. I will start to fear, but I will pass that. I will do everything like [always], and I will pass that. So, it doesn’t matter. I don’t care if he will ask for the rematch.”

Lasiri acknowledged that to win the belt is one thing, but to defend it is another. However, to be considered among the greatest strikers in combat sports, he needs to show dominance.

And with that in mind, “The Hurricane” also eyes the ONE strawweight kickboxing world championship, which is currently vacant following the retirement of former titleholder Sam-A Gaiyanghadao.

“I want to go to the kickboxing one. I want to come back with the gloves. The title in the strawweight kickboxing [division] is vacant, I hope [ONE Championship] will put me there,” Lasiri said.
