ion Air's full service arm Batik Air has opened a route from Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to Manado in North Sulawesi.
The route’s inaugural flight on Monday carried 47 passengers to Manado's Sam Ratulangi International Airport (SRIA) aboard a Boeing 737-800.
The airline serves daily flights on the new route, departing from Manado at 5:20 p.m. and from Halim Perdanakusuma at 12:50 a.m.
"This new route is part of our commitment to increase connectivity across Indonesia's regions as well as promote tourism," said Lion Group SRIA airport manager Spener Walukow, as quoted by kompas.com.
Separately, SRIA general manager Nugroho Jati said the airport operated 24 hours a day since August and was ready to help airlines expand their connectivity. "Hopefully this new route can have a positive impact on the development of aviation and tourism in Indonesia," said Nugroho. (kes)
