est Sumatra provincial administrations recently conducted a coordination meeting on June 7 to discuss the Tour de Singkarak (TDS), an annual professional cycling race held in the province.

18 tourism department heads from cities and regencies in West Sumatra were among the meeting’s participants alongside the Tourism Ministry's archipelago tourism marketing development deputy, Esthy Reko Astuti.

“The result from the meeting is that the event’s official dates are confirmed to be from October 10 until 18, 2017,” said West Sumatra tourism department head Oni Yulvian.

The TDS race will consist of nine stages with prize money of Rp 2.3 billion, with a possibility of being increased to Rp 2.5 billion.

We’ll immediately report the meeting’s result to Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) through the Indonesian Cycling Federation,” Yulvian added.

Tanah Datar Regency has been chosen as the starting point with Bukittinggi serving as the finishing line.

“The opening ceremony of TDS will be on October 9. The host for the grand opening and starting location is Tanah Datar regency while the location for the finale is Bukittinggi city. These two locations have to meet all the specific requirements, especially the availability of lodgings that meet the standard,” said Esthy Reko Astuti. (asw)
