he Tourism Ministry invited 300 vocational high school teachers in North Sulawesi to participate in an event titled “Tourism Culturalization for Teachers” on Thursday in Manado.
“Hopefully these participating teachers can grasp the importance of tourism as the easiest leading sector for the locals,” said Ahman Sya, a ministry official in charge of tourism development.

“North Sulawesi serves as the entrance gate for tourism in the northern area. As of April, 28,000 visitors have come to Manado,” Ahman added.
Moreover, he explained that apart from helping to boost the nation’s economy and contribute to the foreign exchange, the tourism industry can also serve as a tool to unite the country, alleviate poverty and support sustainable development. (kes)
