tate-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II recently officiated the new addition of a jet bridge at Sultan Syarif Kasim II (SSK II) International Airport in Pekanbaru, Riau.

“This addition is an investment to improve and increase Sultan Syarif Kasim II Pekanbaru facilities, this is part of our service for the Indonesian people,” said SSK II Pekanbaru general manager, Jaya Tahoma Sirait.

Angkasa Pura II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin also said that the latest jet bridge addition is to improve customer satisfaction.

“In measuring the level of customer satisfaction, AP 2 routinely does Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) survey, in partnership with INACA and Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey, in partnership with Airport Council International (ACI),” he said.

The new jet bridge is placed to serve international arrival and departure. In total, the airport now has four jet bridges, however, the ideal number is five units and the airport is planning to add more in the future.

In 2016, 66,000 international tourists visited Riau. This year, the province is targeting to welcome 100,000 international tourists. Meanwhile, the tourism ministry is targeting to have a total of 265 million domestic tourists and 15 million international tourists traveling to Indonesian destinations this year.

According to the data from Riau provincial administration, the province, also known as Bumi Lancang Kuning, has more than 168 destinations and 42 tourist events.

One tourist destination that Riau is famous for is Ombak Bono, a popular surfing destination located at the estuary of Kampar River.

Moreover, Riau has also launched its 2017 calendar of events with the tagline “Riau Greets the World.” Several activities and events that tourists can enjoy in Riau include Tour de Siak, Bekudo Bono Festival, Bakar Tongkang and Pacu Jalur. (asw)
