he Transportation Ministry has instructed all transportation services to tighten safety measures amid extreme weather periods in the country, including implementing delays or trip cancellations if necessary.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned of the possibility of extreme weather to occur from January to February this year, which may translate to higher chances of strong winds, lightning, high waves and floods.

“Safety must be the priority in every situation. If needed, delays or cancellations can be implemented. Passenger safety is the main [priority],” Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said in a press release on Wednesday.
