Pangkal Pinang is going to host Bangka Belitung Food Festival (BBFF) 2017 on Dec. 7-9 at Citraland Botanical City.
The event will feature delicacies such as hok lo pan, also known as martabak Bangka, lempah kuning and pelite cake. The latter was the favorite food of Indonesia's first president Sukarno.
The main highlights of this festival will be Lempah Kuning and Hok Lo Pan.These two dishes are very popular and have become the icons of Bangka Belitung.
“Lempah Kuning is a legendary dish; it’s a daily food among the locals,” told Bangka Belitung Governor Erzaldi Rosman.
The festival will also feature several competitions such as Bangka traditional cake cooking competition, hok lo pan eating competition, Lempah Kuning cooking competition, Amazing Race (Cooking Race) and coffee making competition.
Additionally, the festival will hold non food-related competitions such as coloring and painting competition, vlog, blog and journalism competitions.
Interactive demo, coaching clinic, art and cultural performances and live music are going to entertain visitors as well.
“We have invited Masterchef winner Desi Trisnawati who hails from Bangka Belitung and Eddrian Tjhia of DAAI TV. These two chefs will be the judges while also giving knowledge and motivation about culinary,” told the head of BBFF 2017 Wendo Irwanto.
The festival is also celebrating the 17th anniversary of Bangka Belitung.
For the main event, there will be Bangka Traditional Food Festival featuring thousands of traditional dishes from Pangkal Pinang and six regencies. (kes)
