alaysia Airlines will reportedly move its operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng, Banten, starting April 9.

The airport's executive general manager, M. Suriawan Wakan, told tempo.co on Tuesday that passengers are advised to check their flight's departure terminal and gate on their ticket as well as information on the signage and display screens.

"We have prepared all the necessary facilities for the passengers' convenience," he added.

Terminal 3 has been projected to become the biggest transit airport in Southeast Asia. "The presence of Malaysia Airlines in Terminal 3 can increase competitiveness and airline branding in the aviation industry," said Suriawan.

Among the digital-based facilities featured in Terminal 3 are e-parking, a crowd management system, free Wi-Fi, self check-in (currently in progress), digital banners, body scanners, automated immigration, a trolley management system and restrooms equipped with e-surveys.

Since early last year, state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II has gradually moved international airlines that are members of Skyteam, an airline alliance comprising 20 carriers worldwide, from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3.

Those that have already operated from Terminal 3 are Garuda Indonesia, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Vietnam Airlines, Korean Airlines, Xiamen Air, China Airlines, China Southern, AirAsia and Korean Air. (kes)
