ight Garuda Indonesia flights from and to Yogyakarta have been cancelled this afternoon following the increased activity of Mount Merapi, which started on Friday morning, and the closure of Yogyakarta's Adisutjipto International Airport.
Among the cancelled flights are GA253 and GA252 (Denpasar-Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta-Denpasar), GA206 and GA207 (Jakarta-Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta-Jakarta), GA208 and GA209 (Jakarta-Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta-Jakarta), and GA664 and GA665 (Balikpapan-Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta-Balikpapan).

"Due to Mount Merapi's increased activity, we have also prepared a contingency plan to handle the affected flights, including related to passengers," Garuda Indonesia vice president corporate secretary Hengki Heriandono said in a statement on Friday.
All affected passengers are given the option to reschedule their flight, reroute or receive a full refund, according to implemented regulations.

The national flag carrier also advised its customers to recheck their flight schedule through its call center +6221 235-19999 or 0804-1-807-807, Twitter account @IndonesiaGaruda and website, as well as ensure that their contact number and email address have been correctly included in their ticket to allow the airline to contact them in case of a change in schedule.
