ith The Angry Birds Movie slated to premiere next month, the film's Red character is getting busy supporting Earth Day and the signing of the Paris Agreement on climate change on Thursday.
To commemorate Earth Day, the United Nations Postal Administration has released special edition stamps featuring Red and a new Public Service Announcement video that features the movie's voice talents Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad and Maya Rudolph.
In the video, The Angry Birds Movie characters share ways to make the Earth happy, such as by using public transport, shopping with reusable bags, turning off the lights and planting plants and trees.
Red is a busy bird at the moment, touring more than 20 countries to promote the #AngryBirdsHappyPlanet campaign, which asks the general public across the world to make the Angry Birds happy by taking action on climate change and its impacts and sharing their photos and commitments on social media using the hashtag; almost 600 million impressions have been created so far.
Following the climate conference COP21 in December last year, countries agreed to adopt the Paris Agreement to tackle climate change. Under the agreement, all countries agreed to work to limit global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees Celsius, and, given the grave risks, to strive for a rise of less than 1.5 degrees Celsius.
