The success brought by Ronaldo to Portugal winning the European Cup and to Real Madrid winning the Champions League, all in the same year, led to rumors about him earning his fourth Ballon d’Or.

Ronaldo was recently named world's highest-paid athlete, taking home US$88 million last year. According to the Associated Press, most of his whopping income came from his highly coveted $56 million annual salary with Real Madrid, with the remaining $32 million coming from endorsements for huge companies including Nike, Tag Heur and nutritional supplement business Herbalife.
