hef Astrid Enricka Dhita is pretty busy with all things that spell food. She is the chef and owner of an Acehnese Food establishment called @AyamTangkapAR in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, as well as of a smaller one in the Kebagusan area that focuses on takeout lunchboxes, also serving Acehnese food.
She is the administrator of many associations, including Aku Cinta Masakan Indonesia (ACMI), a movement consisting of Indonesian food enthusiasts that aims to spread awareness of Indonesia’s culinary heritage, both nationwide and worldwide. The movement was founded by prominent Indonesian chef, William Wongso, with Santhi Serad as the chairperson.
“I am currently doing Indonesian food diplomacy worldwide. I’m preparing to take part in several food expos in Europe,” said the 36-year-old.
Born in Dumai, Riau province, she grew up in Bandung, West Java, where she studied French literature at Padjadjaran University. She later moved to Jakarta where she has been living for the past 12 years.
Astrid said she fell in love with cooking since she was very young.
“The first food I cooked was probably grilled chicken packed with Indonesian spices and sambal. Yes, I am one of those Indonesians who suffer from these crazy chili prices these days,” she laughed.

Despite her tight schedule, Astrid said she only needs one gadget to manage it all.
“The gadget that I can’t l live without would be my iPhone. That’s all. It has everything I need: an all-in-one gadget for my job, entertainment and much more. Everything is there.”
Using this is a practical way to increase my knowledge of the culinary world. I see what other chefs are doing and am inspired by them while hoping I get a chance to meet them one day and to actually learn from them.
Duolingo
It’s a mobile app for learning foreign languages. I am taking French because I need to refresh my French speaking ability. That way I always keep track of my French speaking level, as well as my friends who are using this app.
Path
I use this because it’s for close friends only. I need to express the silly side of me at times. This is when this app comes in handy.
