'Baby Shark Live Musical' is heading to Indonesia

The "Pinkfong Baby Shark Live Musical" world tour is scheduled to visit Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya in October and November.

fter its debut in Seoul in 2018, SmartStudy, the company behind children's brand Pinkfong, has announced more stops for its Pinkfong Baby Shark Live Musical world tour.

The new destinations include United Arab Emirates’ Abu Dhabi, Indonesia’s Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and the Philippines’ Manila.

The tour is set to visit Yogyakarta from Oct 18 to 20 at Jogja Expo Center, Surabaya from Oct 25 to 27 at Tunjungan Plaza and Jakarta from Nov. 1 to 3 at Basket Hall A in the Gelora Bung Karno sports complex.

The show will take fans on an adventure into the sea with Baby Shark as he joins his friend Pinkfong to sing and dance in Ocean Land. It will also include digital interactive performances.

"We are really excited to bring this fun experience to the live stage," said Min Seok Kim, CEO of SmartStudy. "In addition to bringing the original live musical on this tour, we are also working with top partners from Europe and Latin America to bring live musical shows around the globe."

Last year, the musical visited Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau with a total amount of 80,000 tickets sold.

The song “Baby Shark” entered the Billboard Hot 100's Top 40 in January. Originally uploaded on YouTube in 2016, the children's song went viral in 2017 with the Baby Shark Challenge. To date, the video has garnered more than 3.3 billion views. (ran/wng)
