Homegrown Indonesian super app Gojek, which attained decacorn status in 2019 with a valuation of US$10 million, has achieved yet more international recognition for its applicability among users.

Gojek marked its humble beginnings by identifying the pain points of its consumers when they conduct their day-to-day activities and then using technology to tackle these points.

Innovations and solutions have been constant for Gojek’s business, as seen in the super app’s most recent innovations comprising the Aman Bersama Gojek (Safe With Gojek; denoted with its campaign hashtag #ABG), a comprehensive cybersecurity and traffic security solution, as well as GoFood Victory, which comprises four new solutions for food ordering and delivery to make everyday life easier for customers.

Innovations and solutions that address users’ daily needs have also served as a guiding light in Gojek’s expansion all over Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Gojek itself has expanded to Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam since July 2018.

Gojek’s commitment to always remain relevant to its users by accurately addressing their daily challenges has helped the company achieve yet more international renown.

Most recently, US-based App Annie, an independent agency focusing on mobile market data, revealed in its 2020 survey report titled The State of Mobile 2020 that Gojek had become a super app with the most active monthly users in Indonesia for its various features, from ride hailing and logistics to food delivery and cleaning services, throughout 2019.

Moreover, Gojek also gained success in neighboring country Singapore by becoming the most downloaded mobile application throughout 2019, the survey revealed.

Gojek co-chief executive officer Kevin Aluwi said the super app’s success in Indonesia and Singapore meant that the application had become an important part of Indonesians’ lives.

“We are very pleased to once again become the most frequently used super app in Indonesia. Making users’ lives easier through technology has become the core principle that inspires all the innovations and solutions that Gojek has launched. We are more committed than ever to continuing to raise our service standards and making consumers’ everyday life in markets where we operate more convenient,” Kevin said.

“Our success in Singapore is also a result of our expansion in the Southeast Asian region,” he said. If the super app had not taken the calculated risk of expanding beyond Indonesia, it would not have enjoyed the international recognition it has attained today.

Since its inception, Gojek has always been striving to address the hectic rhythm of everyday life of today’s modern world. When was the last time you found yourself trapped in between errands, leaving you juggling with multiple tasks at once?

Not only do we have to commute to our workplace and back, we also need to make sure that we eat properly, clean our houses, deliver our packages, while enjoying the leisure activities and treatments we need such as getting a massage – all in a day.

These are the elements of your day-to-day life that Gojek wants to simplify through its services and features. With its core mission to remove life’s daily hassles, Gojek believes in the importance of technology to enable human beings to live easier lives and focus on things that really matter.

“We make sure that the products we offer in the Gojek app are easy to use and can effectively help users make their lives easier. Hopefully, our focus on consumer satisfaction will continue to boost their loyalty, which will lead to an increase in Gojek app usage,” he continued.

Gojek has walked the walk, as we can see in its list of innovations launched in 2019, chronicled in its recent campaign kejoG (short for kilas balik Gojek or Gojek’s flashback; its acronym is the super app’s name spelled backward), which summarizes the seven top solutions it released in 2019 to hack its users’ daily life hassles.

In a nutshell, these solutions comprise:

  1. GoGreener, comprising solutions to reduce single-use plastic utilization within the entire Gojek ecosystem;
