While public activities started returning to normalcy last year, digital donation remained popular among Indonesians.  In 2022, digital donations made through GoPay surpassed Rp 154 billion, indicating that donating  digital platforms is still the preferred method for many.

The high interest of digital donations has also led GoPay to once again be named as the Best Collection Partner through Fintech by the National Alms Agency (BAZNAS) for four consecutive years.

Budi Gandasoebrata, Managing Director of Gopay, said in a statement, “During the pandemic, people adopted new habits including getting accustomed to donating through digital platforms.  Last year, although the public activities had returned to normalcy,  we discovered that people were still excited to donate through digital platforms, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.”

Budi added, “Last year, we also saw that BAZNAS remained the most-trusted zakat charity institutions and most-used platform for GoPay users to share kindness, through donations, zakat, infaq and even alms.

GoTo Financial Head of Regulatory Affairs , Yogi Harsudino received the 2023 BAZNAS Award for Best Collection Partner through Fintech from BAZNAS representative KH. Achmad Sudrajat.

The importance of digital donations in overcoming barriers to support the community cannot be understated. In line with this digital innovation, BAZNAS, the official board responsible for managing Zakat, has continuously supported GoPay’s technology to modernize the donation efforts for the benefit of the community.

BAZNAS head, Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad expressed his gratitude for the donations received in 2022.  “We express our sincere gratitude to everyone in Indonesia for their generous donations, which are eagerly awaited by the needy community. As we enter the festive season of Ramadan, let us encourage each other to donate using a trusted platform like GoPay, which provides easy access to donations.”

Noor explained that the pandemic had increased the amount of donations, saying that the board saw a 40 percent increase in donations compared to the period before the pandemic.  Interestingly, most of the donations came from the younger generation. With that in mind, GoPay and Baznas seek to educate the younger generation through the Gerakan Cinta Zakat BAZNAS movement by highlighting the perks of donating through digital platforms.

In addition to donating, users who wish to donate during this holy month of Ramadan could also pay Zakat through the GoTagihan feature. By clicking the “Zakat” menu, GoPay users can simply enter the amount they wish to donate. GoPay has also partnered up with 400 foundations, making digital donations easier for many.
